STONEY NAKODA – An infant’s death on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation is being investigated as a homicide, the RCMP said Friday afternoon.
Police said the Stoney Nakoda RCMP responded for a welfare check on a six-month-old infant on Aug. 25. When they entered the home, police found the deceased infant.
An autopsy was completed on Aug. 26 at the Chief Medical Examiner’s office in Calgary and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes unit has taken the lead in the investigation, the police media release stated.
The RCMP said the investigation is ongoing and no further details are available.
