Jacob’s band, Wesley, Goodstoney – the history of what is today known as the Goodstoney (Kichipwot) First Nation is long and winding.

The Îyârhe Nakoda First Nation community, 24 km west of Nordegg and about 276 km northwest of Mînî Thnî, is building new water and wastewater treatment infrastructure following a visit from Indigenous Services Canada in 2019 that proved upgrades were needed.

“This is only our second show of the year at Three Sisters Gallery and we thought it was important to put together to demonstrate our commitment to Indigenous relations through the exhibit and working with artists across the province.”

“I’m happy to see these final results,” said Elmeligi. “But I have also been operating under the assumption that I was the MLA-elect and I’m glad that I still am.”

A $266,000 donation to Canadian Rockies Public Schools will be used to help renovate the Canmore Collegiate High School theatre and add a new culinary arts kitchen at Banff Community High School.

“There’s been a lot of challenges and adversities students have encountered over the school year – I’ve literally seen blood, sweat and tears. I had a student that actually sewed her finger, and I also had a student who made a ribbon skirt with a broken heart – she had tears falling as she was making it.”

“There is definitely a need for the community to have its own fire hall,” said Blair Birch, director of capital projects and public works with Stoney Tribal Administration. “But in conjunction with that, you also need some trained people – a volunteer fire department with some training and background and equipment to be able to respond from a local level.”
