Now it is up to you, as the general membership, to step up to the plate and appear at general meetings, volunteer some of your time or donate to the Canmore Legion.

So when you get a chance pop by the Legion and put forth your name to help. You were all loud in your vote of “not moving,” but are you now willing to back up that vote? Or is the legion just going continue to slowly die out?

To all of you folks out there that come in and enjoy the legion that, are not members yet – thank you and you should know that anyone can join for $50 a year.

Those membership fees are used to keep our building open, to keep the Veterans Field of Honour at the Canmore cemetery in good repair. The funds help to support the Banff/Canmore Air Cadets, the Canmore Rod and Gun Club, continue offering our meeting room/space to the Lions Club, Alpine club of Canada, Highland Games planners, Bow Valley Connections Club, and to award bursaries toward education.

We also house two locally owned and operated businesses. That being said we are a community-based, not-for-profit organization that not only advocates for our Veterans, but provides a gathering place, whether it be Nov. 11 Remembrance Day ceremony, a memorial service for our departed, or just a get together with friends and bingo.

So come on down a support a community based club that founded in 1925 for Veterans and their community.

Lets we forget.
