Sixty-seven. An ashtray in a car can hold 67 cigarette butts.
How do I know? Someone dumped an ashtray right where they parked their car and when I parked in the same spot and opened my door I was ‘invited’ by their presence to step on them. I counted the butts as I picked them up to put them into the garbage.
Giving benefit of the doubt, I expect that the person who left them puts wrappers and empty cigarette packages into the garbage, perhaps even into recycling.
So… why? Why bother putting the filters of your cigarettes into your car ashtray if you intend to leave them on the ground somewhere? You clearly consider them trash. But darn, there are garbage bins everywhere.
Smokers… Cigarette butts are garbage. Don’t toss them on the ground.
