Spray Village is home for me and every day I have the privilege of taking advantage of unbelievably beautiful runs to work and to train, bear spray in hand.

Though the area is frequented by bears and they are a constant threat, I see a much bigger issue.

Last summer an aggressive approach by a bulldog and an uncaring owner had me very disturbed. Today, an off leash dog ran towards me aggressively and jumped face-to-face on me, not in a “happy lick your face” kind of way.

Not only was I assaulted by the dog, the owners seemed less caring. I’ve always been a dog lover, always will be. On the reservoir I rarely see an owner with their dog on leash, and never thought it was as an issue.

I now have to be on guard when I see a dog roaming about and I’m now quite anxious of dogs off leash, unsure of what to expect. I see the reason for signs stating dogs to be on-leash at the reservoir, I learned that the hard way myself.
