There is a bylaw in Canmore, clause 2.2, that states you must have your dog under control by a leash attached to either a choke chain, collar or harness.
Yet, why do dog owners still walk their dogs off leash on one of Canmore’s busiest trails?
Sadly, I witnessed a large dog chase down and maul a small bunny within a few feet of my door. This would not have occurred had the dog been on a leash.
The incident has left me very upset. I hope I never see anything like that again.
Be a responsible dog owner, call the Town and find out where the designated off leash areas are and take your dog there for a run.
Please be considerate and keep the public, the wildlife and your dog safe and be mindful of our bylaws.
