LETTER: Banff worked hard to lower cases

Editor: Thank you to everyone in the Banff community who contributed to squashing the curve of our year end Covid cases.

Thank you to everyone in the Banff community who contributed to squashing the curve of our year end Covid cases.

Dropping from a peak of 200 some cases to 16 cases in a matter of a month and a bit is no mean feat; particularly in a province with rapidly rising caseloads.

A special shout out to the hard work of our medical professionals, Parks Canada and the Town of Banff for their communication efforts and fast action on imposing restrictions to limit spread.

While we heard stories from elsewhere of businesses firing COVID positive staff, thank you to the hard hit businesses in our community, who treated their COVID positive staff with compassion and dignity with the creation of staff isolation rooms at hotels and the YWCA.

Although we are all bone weary of COVID and repeatedly hearing “we are all in this together” and “be kind,” the collective actions of our community exemplified “walking the talk.”

Reg Bunyan,

Banff
