Letter: Despite recommendations, Canmore still too busy during pandemic

It doesn't feel like it is working.

As I walked downtown for some groceries I couldn't help but notice how busy the streets were with the feeling of a normal spring Saturday afternoon.

Everything in Canmore for the most part is closed, so where and why are the streets so busy?

How come we are allowing travelers to still visit Canmore. I was so happy a when our mayor pleaded with people to stay away, however it hasn't seemed to work.

I have been out of work for close to three weeks and I don't wish this on anyone, however the hotels are still open and accepting guests.

Shut it down, that's the response that is required.

If you can still book a hotel room in Canmore it sends the message that we are opened for business.

The Shoppers Drug Mart parking lot was full, Save-On-Foods was packed.

There are only four ways to come into Canmore from the highway, I think it's time to tighten the noose.

Our small town can not handle an outbreak.

David Barkley,

Canmore
