Letter: Hard lessons in the fight against COVID-19

Editor:

Most people have adjusted to the "new reality" and the health-related instructions resulting from the scourge of COVID-19.

But there are always people who consider that “those instructions do not apply to me.”

The following is directed to those who are not following COVID-related instructions.

COVID kills. COVID killed my brother Bruce, a.k.a. Simon, on March 29 in New York City.

He was described to me as sounding “hale and hearty” when his friend, Matthew, spoke to him via phone circa March 26. Three days later he was dead.

So please. To those of you who are not practising social distancing and all of the other COVID-related instructions, you must do so. Not only for your benefit, but for all of those that you may infect if you should become infected.

Be patient, and respectful, to all of the bank tellers, grocery store employees, pharmacy workers and others who are still employed and catering to your needs.

Contact a lawyer and have your will prepared.

Don’t run the risk of finding out the hard way, as I did, that the reported dangers of COVID are genuine.

Jon Whelan,

Banff
