The following is a letter sent to Banff-Kananaskis MLA Miranda Rosin.

I’m writing to let you know how much it means to me, my family, and my friends to have ongoing access to Alberta Parks.

Like many thousands of your constituents, we moved here because of our love of natural areas.

Given the pressures brought to bear on us by the COVID-19 situation, our ability to access and enjoy our precious Parks has never been more important for our physical and emotional wellbeing.

In past weeks, I've enjoyed the wide trails of the Canmore Nordic Centre, backcountry hiking trails such as Ha Ling, and backcountry ski trails such as Chester Lake – and everyone I’ve seen enjoying these areas has embodied the best health practices of our time, whether it’s taking separate vehicles, maintaining physical separation, etc.

We’re in challenging times – please don’t make them more challenging by cutting off our access to Alberta Parks.

Hope you’re bearing up well in these difficult times, and thank you for your consideration of this request.

Gareth Thomson,

Canmore
