A few weeks ago, I thought Premier Jason Kenney may have cooked his proverbial goose.

Yet again, he failed to rein in his wayward MLAs. Some MLAs joined "End of Lockdown National Caucus."

In one breath, Kenney states the restrictions in place were necessary to defend Alberta's health care system, and the government is very clear we need "targeted public health measures to limit the spread," but repeatedly declined to condemn his caucus members for joining the group, which says they oppose those same measures.

He doesn't get the connection, that that type of messaging can undermine any progress made.

In his defence, he says "we are a free, open and democratic society, people are going to have different views."

Does that sound familiar? Remember the mass exodus of MLAs seeking sunnier climes this past Christmas, despite the fact that we were expected to barely leave our own homes, not to have anyone in, the people in your home for Christmas can only be ones that actually live there.

And in their defence, Kenney said they really didn't break any laws, I believe they must just have had a lapse of judgment.

It was only after there was a huge public outcry and against his better judgment, I am sure, that he dealt out some measure of discipline.

Way back in 2019, three MLA's attended a conference featuring far right and pro-separatists preaching "freedom," separatists looking for our own little land-locked country.

Kenney didn't even flinch. So what is the party line? With increased spending and a deficit that will run until 2027, Kenney better get all his ducks in a row.
