Dec. 3 is the United Nations International Day Of People With Disabilities. I would like to acknowledge Canmore's steps toward accessibility.

The Pine Tree players now have a described audio service and sign language interpreters. Some of our traffic intersections have audible signals – the equipment for the new intersection is in the mail, caught up in the supply chain crisis – and there are wheelchair ramps in many public buildings.

Rocky Mountain Adaptive sport is thriving. We are hosting a Para Nordic World Cup. We have come a long way and we are making good strides to improving accessibility.

With the world coming to Canmore for the Para Nordic World Cup, let’s use what we have done as a foundation to keep moving forward and show the world what can be done.

Sandy Lecour,

Canmore
