LETTER: Not the time to make major decisions for Canmore's future

I’ve come to think of the Three Sisters Development plan as the “let’s make Canmore like Cochrane plan.”

Is that what we want for Canmore?

I don’t think so, and that’s why I would like to add my voice of concern about this impending huge decision that, if greenlit, would double the size of Canmore.

I respectfully suggest now is not the time to consider this decision due to the pandemic that is getting increasingly close to home.

When the last Three Sisters Area Structure Plan was denied by Town of Canmore a few years ago, there was incredible citizen engagement opposing the plan, making it an easy decision for the Town Council to reject it.

Under the current circumstances, the people of Canmore are too preoccupied with keeping their businesses afloat, learning how to home school their children, looking after sick family members and generally keeping their heads above water to engage with this huge decision.

This is no time to make huge decisions for the future of Canmore.

Leanne Allison,

Canmore
