There has been some concern shown by permanent residents in regards to the paid parking issue.

Ever since my wife and I have moved to Canmore we have always been willing to pay the “Canmore Tax.”

We do most of our shopping and recreation in town to support local business year around. However, if we have to start paying to park every time we run into town to pick something up, or have a coffee, or a beer, our support for local business will end.

Our daughter lives in Airdrie and we go in to see her and the kids every couple of weeks. It will be nothing for us to stop and shop at Costco and CrossIron Mills.

I understand the parking issues during long weekends, holidays and peak times in the summer. We do avoid driving downtown during these times.

Council needs to come up with some exemption for residents during all other times. Otherwise we will do all our shopping out of town.

Tom and Kim Duke,

Canmore
