I am writing concerning the story "Stalemate over road service in Field continues."

As a former member of this fire department and a long time Field resident, I find it incredibly criminally irresponsible for Parks Canada to not provide emergency service within Yoho National Park in a timely manner.

I was shocked to hear of the recent incidents on the Trans-Canada Highway where drivers were left stranded because of Parks Canada’s incompetence regarding this ongoing issue.

My daughter commutes on the school bus each day through some of the most dangerous conditions in this area. To think that these children could be left out there for hours is a nightmare.

This has been a deficiency in this community for years. Let's hope their are no fatalities this winter because of this nonsense.

Does Parks Canada not realize that everyone in Field commutes for everything? Work, groceries, medical appointments, everything. Parks Canada is putting all of our lives in danger.

I hope the agency is ready for some lawsuits and extremely bad press when this costs someone their life. Hopefully it is not my wife, daughter or one of my fellow Fieldites.

Let's end this.

Steven Lay,

Field, B.C.
