The weekend of Aug. 13-14 had many visitors and residents walk the scenic, shaded paths of Canmore. It is why they travel from Calgary and beyond and why we live here to experience the mountain tranquillity Canmore has to offer.

Dodging high-speed cyclists does not contribute to this experience. Grabbing children and dogs from the danger some irresponsible, inconsiderate cyclists pose is not a positive reflection of the values of our town.

Town councillors should take a walk on the weekends and judge for themselves who uses the pathways. The Legacy Trail between Banff and Canmore has been totally taken over by cyclists, no pedestrian would dare try to walk to Banff.

The speeds can at times exceed 45 kilometres an hour, faster than the speed limit on cars. Please keep the pathways of Canmore for pedestrians.

Nancy Way,

Canmore
