LETTER: People need to do better voting in ethical and moral representatives for public office

I wanted to be an MLA years ago because I believed it was a noble calling, a riotous effort to stand for my local constituents, province and country. But with the harm done by former and current members, radical influencers from the left and right, nobility has left the building.

MLAs should not merely be spokespersons for their party, but actively represent the beliefs and values of their constituent’s majority.

There is the rub with that statement, however. A consistent message from government must be delivered and sustained once a collaborative direction is decided and backed by industry experts – such as health – who have no possible gain from any outcome.

We as a population need to do much better in voting for ethical and moral representatives and leaders who can represent and educate their constituents with a high level of confidence and nobility.

On the flip side, the population needs to put their faith and support behind these representatives when difficult decisions need to be made. Those that seed hate, misinformation and manipulation partnered with those that profit from the proceeds be it monetary or self-promotion must face a reckoning.
