Ah, Spring. The lovely smell of dog poop is in the air.

As a longtime dog owner myself, I realize I am responsible for him. Still, I admit, I may have failed to pickup a few times. But, I try hard to keep things clean out of respect for all residents.

I cycled along the river trails the other day and saw numerous piles of dog poop. People are supposedly walking their dogs on leash with bag dispensers and garbage cans available and still they leave their dogs muck for all to enjoy. Please explain that to me.

I am one of several people who help clean up the Quarry Lake dog park and the adjacent areas. We can clean an area and the next day there is “unclaimed” poop in the same places. We had hoped people would see a clean park and get the message.

We also see a dramatic increase in poop when the park is used by visitors. I guess they feel they don’t live here, so they don't have to care about the health of the land and the water table.

Marg Rees,

Canmore
