I am an avid reader. As I live in a small condo unit, I do not have space to keep the hordes of books I've read in the 18 years I've lived in Canmore and so feel extremely lucky that I have access to a wonderful local library.
The first book I took out was in 2004 and was The History of Canmore, and since then, I have read at least 3,791 books. "At least" because I sometimes forget to include in my Excel file list non-library books and in particular those books I downloaded to an iPad when the library was closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
I have a complaint about readers who mishandle library books, in particular people who turn the corners of pages to mark their place in a book. How lazy can you get? Can't you find an actual bookmark or at least a scrap of paper to mark your place?
The book I am currently reading has the corner turned down on approximately every 10 pages. Feel free to mishandle books you yourself own, but please handle library books with the respect they are due.
