LETTER: Premier Kenney should focus on Alberta's problems

Editor:

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but why on earth would Premier Jason Kenney want to stride into such a divisive issue as Black Lives Matter, which has gained such momentum across the U.S., Canada and the world.

After the toppling of the statue of Sir John A Mac Donald in Montreal this weekend. Kenney stood up and announced that he would welcome it with wide arms, restore it, and erect it on the legislative grounds in Edmonton.

This kind of grandstanding shows just how out of touch he is with the Black Lives Matter movement, racism in Canada, and it's significance to all Canadians. Those who march in solidarity, and those who are grappling with what racism means.

All of us must address this issue, to keep this momentum going to find solutions and to create a better Canada, free of racism.

If Kenney keeps this up I'm sure that his friend south of the border would not mind sending a Confederate flag to drape over it's shoulders in a bid to keep it warm.

Such a senseless act when our country and especially Alberta are in an economic crisis.

Kenney, focus your energy there.
