Letter: Racism shows itself in Canmore

Editor:

I have heard it said that our actions speak or truths.

And our truths are based on our knowledge and perception.

On Jan. 29, while working on a project in Spring Creek a person(s) took the action to write on my truck in the dirt "n-gg-r =) f--k" – and that's a happy face symbol in between.

Yes, they actually wrote that.

I was in a hurry to get in my truck and get to my destination. I quickly saw the "f" word and didn't think a lot of it at the moment.

As I parked a lady in another vehicle looked at my truck stone faced.

When I got out I finally saw what was fully written on my truck.

I felt horrible that I didn't stop earlier to see what was written.

I immediately wiped it off. Who would do such thing? Why the hate? Why the disregard for someones property?

The next day I spoke to another worker about it and asked if they had any similar experience in that area. They hadn't and were just as disgusted.

As we walked out to our vehicles, their's was parked in the same spot mine was the day before. On the side of their vehicle "n-gg-r f--k you" was written in the dirt.

I have no tolerance for this hate.

So I call out the intolerant, ignorant, coward(s) to explain their actions.

Therefore, starting a conversation and maybe, just maybe expand my knowledge and understanding of their hate and ignorance.

And expand their knowledge and understanding of the extent of their actions.

Understanding on all sides is required to keep learning and growing.
