I am writing to express my full support for the proposed Canadian Rockies Public Schools (CRPS) division development of various apartments and stacked townhomes around the Lawrence Grassi Middle School area.
Having lived in Canmore for more than 25 years, I've become increasingly aware that many of our young adults and young families have had to leave our town because they simply could no longer afford to live here. This project would certainly help retain some of these young people, which are the ultimate life-blood to our future as a vibrant, demographically diverse community.
In addition to the many benefits that would derive from this project, it is important to underline the substantial bolstering of long-term sustainability it could afford to CRPS' education funding, as well as in CRPS' ability to attract long-term, high-quality staff. As a bonus, it is politically and environmentally relevant to note that this site does not impinge on any wildlife corridors.
