The letter "tread carefully councillors" in the May 26 Outlook appears to be a cautionary note to newly elected Councillors Jeff Mah and Wade Graham referring to these councillors’ involvement in helping create Bow Valley Engage, which deals with development and environmental issues. These topics were and are the platforms of the two Councillors and enough voters identified with them to vote them into office.

The letter writer, Ms. Bradley, is concerned these two councillors’ past activism may put them into a position of conflict of interest.

Don’t they have a right to express themselves however they feel appropriate? After all the mayor issues a Message from the Mayor and former Coun. Esmé Comfort was regularly on the Canmore Politics Facebook page. I wish more councillors would communicate with the public and share their views on social media or their own blog.

Ms. Bradley wonders if not parallels can be drawn between certain Canmore councillors and members of Chestermere's members of council with “claims made by Chestermere staffers and residents of bullying, intimidation, cronyism and procedural malfeasance contravening the Municipal Government Act”.

All in all, I believe putting these two councillors in the vicinity of certain members of Chestermere’s council, as accused, is a bit far fetched if not absurd. I cannot see a glimmer of conflict of interest here.
