LETTER: Thank you to cyclists for following road rules

Editor: I would like to thank all the cyclists who ring their bells when passing or shout out on your left or right and to those who ride on the wonderful bike paths the Town of Canmore has provided for them and not on the road beside the bike paths.

I would like to thank all the cyclists who ring their bells when passing or shout out on your left or right and to those who ride on the wonderful bike paths the Town of Canmore has provided for them and not on the road beside the bike paths. Also, thank you to those who ride in single file when on a pedestrian/bike pathways and for those who do not speed around with no hands on the handle bars.

Am I the only senior citizen who feels like I am risking my life every time I go for a walk? There is going to be a tragedy one of these days if something is not done. I love to see people enjoying the outdoors on their bikes. However, there are those who speed around without thought to others.

There will be an election coming up this fall and I will vote for whoever may find it prudent to have cyclist police on their agenda to help stop speeding bikes and disregard for the rules of the road and safety.

Let’s be respectful of one another whether it is by cycling, driving or walking.

Gloria Phillips,

Canmore
