Canmore does not have "tourist town" designation, yet residents must deal with a regular influx of visitors.

With the growing city of Calgary down the road, many more visitors will be coming. Canmore residents are beginning to be unable to enjoy our few town park areas.

Quarry Lake in July was so oversubscribed by visitors the Town was forced to make major changes to the parking area. Locals used to have "secret" spots like the reservoir, Gap Lake, riverside trails......but no longer.

Other communities in Alberta have parks for their residents to enjoy, but that is not the case in Canmore.

As a town we need to be more proactive in developing more park space to accommodate both residents and visitors. Can the Town not develop a part of the undeveloped Three Sisters golf course into another park?

Can the Town not make it a requirement of a developer?

A park would be more in keeping with "wildlife corridor" than another housing development.

Another thing to consider is the approach Chestermere took; locals are free, visitors pay a fee.

A booth at Quarry Lake would give some summer students a job.

Summer is such a short season in Canmore, it would be nice to enjoy our own town parks rather than have to give way to the almighty "tourist" and their bucks.
