First-term Councillors Jeff Mah and Wade Graham are two of the founders of Bow Valley Engage – the social media site that rallied residents to oppose Three Sisters Mountain Village Properties Limited proposed land developments. They were not councillors at that time.

Now they councillors and have a legal duty to be independent and avoid conflicts of interest or recuse themselves if there is a conflict. Any ongoing involvement of councillors with Bow Valley Engage is inappropriate as Bow Valley Engage is enthusiastically opposing the proposed South Canmore development in front of council and scheduled for a public hearing May 24.

A May 15 Calgary Herald article “Probe ordered on governance of Chestermere” due to irregularities with the operation of Chestermere’s municipal government caught my attention. It made me wonder about the appearance of a potential conflict of interest in our town.

Donna Bradley,

Canmore
