Letter: Why approve more development when it is the cause of so many problems?

Editor: Yet again, residents are being asked to politely "partner" with more development as yet another major development is proposed for Harvie Heights and the Bow Valley.

Yet again, residents are being asked to politely "partner" with more development as yet another major development is proposed for Harvie Heights and the Bow Valley.

Joe Well's comment "we are against bad planning" for me rings another bell, the one that our politicians seem not to hear.

That bell has a very clear message, and yet no one listens.

The message is just how much can this valley take in terms of development, people, tourism, and abuse of our natural resources.

Canmore is expected to just absorb all of these people and related problems, with an infrastructure that is not adequate.

I ask you to think back just three weeks, during our Christmas traffic jams and over whelming amount of visitors.

Of course it's all related to letting developers make huge profit, but the community suffers, as we pay more to support that profit.

One last thing, just think of all the water use and abuse, and the sanitation of that water, so we can send it down river to Calgary.

All this while Canmore council declares "climate emergency."

Seems like hypocrisy to me.

Douglas MacLean,

Canmore
