Editor: The article ‘Canmore RCMP reminds public concerning bike safety laws’ brings some needed attention to what rules those riding bikes need to follow. As is often the case, however, things are more complicated than they seem.

Editor: Thank you to RMO and Sgt. Ryan Currie for the most informative and timely article about bicycle safety and the appropriate laws regarding the proper use of these vehicles.

Editor: Council are stewards of Canmore’s natural environment, including our wildlife, their habitat and corridors.

As time goes by here in our Bow Valley, it’s becoming more and more clear that transit has become an integral component of not only reducing traffic congestion and parking problems, but increasing sense of community.

Editor: We applaud Parks Canada for rerouting the Banff Marathon to avoid potential wildlife conflicts on Bow Valley Parkway. We also note that this is not the first time a race has had to be stopped or rerouted due to wildlife conflicts.

Editor: Thank you to the Outlook for the recent article and editorial regarding wolf bounties in the province of Alberta. I have been part of a group of loosely organized individuals trying to raise awareness of this issue among citizens.

Editor: It is with great sadness and a broken heart that I report I had my beloved friend Kuma, my dog guide, put to sleep on June 8. She was just shy of her 13th birthday.

Editor: The majority of Albertans cherish our wilderness, along with the animals contained within it.

Editor: I wish to respond to Karla Gaffney’s letter to the editor in the June 2 edition of the Outlook and correct some of her statements by providing the true facts of the matter for the readers.

Editor: Dear Ms. Koegler, you did not fail to communicate your message in your first letter. I picked up on the sub-text right away. It was the man who took offence, that failed to do so, either by not knowing how or by a desire to be self-righteous.
