Editor: I’m writing to provide some clarification on Elevation Place. It is the hope and desire of the Town that Elevation Place be embraced by residents and visitors alike. To date, the response to purchasing a community membership has been strong.

Editor: I am concerned about the admission fee structure at Elevation Place and want to share some thoughts with Canmore residents and visitors alike.

Editor: I would like to know what is exactly “elevating” about Elevation Place? I have done my homework and it makes me feel very low. I cannot afford to take my family to this new facility for any reason.

Editor: As of March 25, babies will no longer be delivered in Banff. And yes, it’s an inconvenience for some families in town. But I would like to take a minute and review what has been said about the closure.

Editor: I have heard some interesting nicknames for Elevation Place around town. It has been affectionately called “The Sinking Ship” by some, lovingly referred to as the “Titanic” by others, or simply called “The Giant.

Editor: I was heartened to see the mayor’s column introduced to your pages to enhance communication and to highlight transparency from the mayor’s office.

Editor: In John Borrowman’s message from the mayor last week, he discussed the merits of photo radar in Canmore. I would like to add that the ever-increasing traffic through the Bow Valley has put our wildlife more at risk of injury.

Editor: Last Wednesday I attended “Let’s Talk: Invitation to Community Information Session on Obstetrics in the Bow Valley Corridor,” co-sponsored by Covenant Health and Alberta Health Services.

Editor: Gosh there’s been a lot of talk down at the pool lately about Elevation Place. People are not embracing the elevated prices and elevated customer service. We have grown to love the existing facility and its front end staff and lifeguards.
