“When we have these things come forward, it’s often those requests that may not exactly fit the COPTER perimeters but are still worthy of being recognized due to the community benefit they provide. I think any regulation or contract or future looking document cannot foresee all potential scenarios. It’s not black and white.”

“The need for one parking stall per unit is correct if the unit is only accommodating up to four people, but if the unit is accommodating up to 10 people then I do see there could be a need for further parking stalls being required."

“In many respects, this is exactly what I was expecting. I expected to get over the 15,000 permanent resident mark, which we did. I was expecting we would have some increase due to non-permanent residents deciding to move here full-time due to COVID and encouraging people to work from where they live. If you have the opportunity to live in a beautiful place full-time, I understand why someone would do that.”

“Seeing as there’s been zero input from the community — from residents, from developers, from people who are planning to develop – I think it’s safe to proceed with this change,” said Banff Councillor Barb Pelham.
