EDITORIAL: The Banff Avenue pedestrian zone is ultimately a positive to the community and should be continued. But if it’s going to continue, the concerns brought by residents and Parks Canada have to be listened to, examined and answers sought.

LETTER: Come back with a sensible redevelopment plan and charge for parking like everywhere else in the world. Developers are in the business of making money, not giving away freebies.

LETTER: Now, as a result of this deliberate approach, Banffites are forced to confront an ugly and damaging plan to increase residential density.

“There’s definitely a lot of activity forthcoming in Gateway this year and looking forward to welcoming new retailers next year,”

“I’m excited because with the [annual general meeting] we have a number of openings on the board we need to fill, so there’s going to be a lot of new faces. … Seeing the new people come in, I think it gives us an opportunity to refresh. It’s been a bumpy year or two for the BIA in transitioning leadership,”

EDITORIAL: As with any budget, it’s not the number of photo ops or declarations that it’ll be remembered for but what it delivers.

LETTER: Requiring those who have the means to purchase a second home, probably because of unearned privilege and luck, to pay their fair share, is the definition of equity.
