BANFF – Parks Canada has wrapped up an investigation into claims American reality TV star and model Kelsey Owens defaced property in Banff National Park.
A former star of the MTV reality TV show, Siesta Key, Owens posted a photo on Instagram with the initials MKB carved into a fence post by Surprise Corner overlooking the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.
"The result of the investigation is inconclusive, no further actions will occur," said Cassandra Smyth, a spokesperson for Banff National Park, noting Parks Canada continues to encourage the public to report events such as this to Banff dispatch at 403-762-1470 with detailed information. "When visiting the national park, it’s essential to remember: your actions matter. Leave it wild."
Owens, who departed Siesta Key in 2022 after five years, was in Banff earlier this summer for a trip and is a known social media influencer.
Her Instagram post, which generated angry comments over vandalizing property in the national park, has since been taken down. However, it is still being spread across various social media sites.
MKB is the name of Owens' travel and photography company, though some social media sites suggests it stands for Max, Kelsey, Bella, in reference to her boyfriend Max Strong and dog.
Owens could not be immediately reached for comment.
