Cochrane RCMP issue warrant for man wanted in firearms complaint

Police have issued a warrant for Greg Deviat of Cochrane RCMP, but are asking the public to call and not approach the man, who is alleged to be involved in a firearms complaint that triggered an area of Cochrane to be ordered to shelter in place.

On Sept. 11, 2023, Cochrane RCMP responded to a firearms complaint in the Bow Ridge community in Cochrane. The suspect male fled prior to police arrival. Extensive searches have been made but the male is still at large. RCMP have since laid charges in this investigation. The suspect male is not believed to be in Cochrane.

Gregory Deviat (35), a resident of Cochrane, currently has two outstanding warrants for the following combined charges: Fail to Comply with a release order, Uttering threats, Unauthorized possession of a firearm, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000

Cochrane RCMP have rescinded the shelter in place order for Bow Ridge residents. According to police, the suspect, Greg Deviat, is still at large, but has likely left the the Bow Ridge area.

Residents are asked to remain cautious and vigilant as they go about their daily affairs.

Cochrane RCMP are issuing a shelter in place for the community of Bow Ridge, specifically residences on Bow Ridge Drive. Please stay inside and lock your doors.

RCMP are investigating a firearms complaint. It is believed the suspect, Greg Deviat, is armed with a firearm. He left his residence on a scooter. He was last seen wearing a black short and grey pants.

An update will be sent when more information becomes available.
