Young Northern Alberta woman killed in the Shetland Islands

WESTLOCK — Police in Scotland have identified a woman who died following a disturbance in Shetland last week as 24-year old Claire Leveque.

Other news sources have reported that Leveque was from Westlock.

In a statement released Thursday Feb.15, police said they were called to a residence following a report of a disturbance in the Sandness area of Shetland around 4:55 p.m. on Feb. 11.

A young woman later identified as Leveque was pronounced dead at the scene, police said  

A 39-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and made his first appearance at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Feb. 15.
