Canmore RCMP investigating sudden death near downtown skating pond

RCMP said the death does not appear to be suspicious

CANMORE – RCMP are investigating a sudden death in Canmore.

On Sunday (Nov. 1) around 8:30 p.m., Canmore RCMP responded to a call of an unresponsive male at the gazebo by the Canmore skating pond on Seventh Avenue.

“Canmore Fire and EMS were already on scene and performed CPR on the subject for a lengthy period of time before he was pronounced deceased,” wrote Canmore RCMP Sgt. Stan Andronyk in a press release.

Canmore Fire Rescue officials said two advanced care paramedics firefighters had also responded to the scene before the 52-year-old man was pronounced dead. 

Police said the death does not appear to be suspicious at this time.

"It is an unfortunate incident," Andronyk said.

Officials said his next of kin have been notified.
