Art deco is back in a big way, but rather than in our architecture, it's appearing in our furniture choices. Initially rising in popularity in the 20s and 30s, this style includes bold geometric shapes and pops of colour. If you're seeing more unique, stand-out furniture pieces, they're likely art deco inspired.
Archways Everywhere
Arches are back! There was a time when doorways, windows, and beams were often found in arch shapes. Fast-forward to the present, and that trend is back, and we're seeing some new creative additions. While arched room entrances and dividing walls are showing up more often in home design, people are also leaning into the arches with their interior painting choices. You'll see painted arches in the place of headboards or to really accentuate art pieces. The arch is in, and it's all over the place.
Colourful Cabinets
For the past decade, we've seen a huge movement towards more natural cabinetry. Suddenly, painted cabinets are making a massive rise in popularity. Colours like deep blues and greens are seemingly the most in-trend. A bonus with this trend is that painting cabinets is a simple and affordable project that might give your kitchen or bathroom a whole new look.
Freestanding Tubs
It's sad to think that freestanding tubs ever fell out of trend. While the 90s were filled with built-in style bathtubs, the freestanding tub is back at the front of the pack. We're seeing these everywhere, from super retro clawfoot tubs to more chic versions of the freestanding tub. If you were thinking of building your bathtub into your walls and floors, you might want to think again.
Woven Furniture
If you haven't noticed yet, you're about to. Home trend enthusiasts are passionate about this age-old style choice, from wicker furniture to ratan accents. Suitable for a boho style or a more elevated farmhouse style, woven accents really tie a space together.
Maximalism & Warmth
While the last several years have tended towards the more minimalist style, we're seeing a rise in maximalism, mismatched accents, prints and patterns, and basically anything and everything someone wants in their home. The all-white, concrete, empty spaces that were really popular over the past few years are slowly losing the spotlight to more inviting, lively homes.
