Halloween events in the Bow Valley this week

The spirit of Halloween has cast a spell in the Bow Valley this week, with chances for hocus pocus fun taking place throughout the community

Thursday, Oct. 24

Running from 6-8 p.m., Crock a Doodle will be hosting Ghouls Night Out: Witches Brew. This is an 18+ event and guests are invited to drop by and paint a wine goblet, or coffee mug. Prices vary based on the pottery piece chosen. A $10 registration fee is required. Sign up to cast a spell on a piece of art at crockadoodle.com/canmore/studio-events/ghouls-night-out-witches-brew/.

Open from 8-9 p.m. The Halloween Maze hosted by Georgetown Inn runs from Oct. 24-31. The maze is located at the entrance of the pub and runs throughout the hotel. The maze is geared towards kids, but everyone is invited to come to enjoy some spooky fun. Funds raised from the event are in support of a local children’s charity.

Friday, Oct. 25

Running from 6-8 p.m., the Friday Night Fun Spooktacular at Crock A Doodle features an exciting night of Halloween treats. Kids are encouraged to dress up in their costumes to paint a Day of the Dead themed sugar skull or mug. The event includes pizza. Halloween Horrors in the Cave by Canmore Cave Tours will be taking place until Oct. 27. The event runs from 5-11 p.m. and begins at the Canmore Cave Tours Office (129 Bow Meadows Crescent), where guests will gather and then head out to explore a haunted cave. The hike lasts approximately 30 to 40 minutes and is on a moderately steep mountain trail. Upon reaching their final destination, guests descend into the darkness of the haunted cave to watch the horror movie The Descent. The event is 18+ and tickets are $145. Tickets can be purchased at canmorecavetours.com/the-descent#tickets.

It will be a ghoulishly fun weekend of Halloween happenings from Oct. 25-27 at Kananaskis Mountain Lodge. Haunted Kananaskis is open from noon-7 p.m. each day and features a variety of activities that include a trick-or-treat scavenger hunt, ghost walking tour, Halloween parade, haunted house, spooky stories, little monster chef and more. A Ghoulish DJ Party for adults only runs from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Sunday.

Saturday, Oct. 26

A Halloween Hike tot Grassi Lake will be taking place from 9 a.m.-noon. Guests are invited to wear their best costumes and all levels and ages of hikers are invited. Meet at the Grassi Lakes trailhead sign at 8:45 a.m.

The Revenge of the Sasquatch Halloween Party at Dancing Sasquatch in Banff runs from 9 p.m.-2 a.m. This Halloween pre-party has a $300 grand prize for best costume.

Sunday, Oct. 27

Grab your tools and get ready for the 10th annual Great Pumpkin Carving Contest and costume contest at the Wood Restaurant & Lounge. Free pumpkins and carving tools will be supplied. Guests can take home their pumpkin after the event, and free hot chocolate and a loot bag for kids will be provided. Carving times are available at noon, 1:30 and 3 p.m.

Running from 3-5 p.m., the Canmore Young Adult Network presents pumpkin carving for the whole community at Origin at Spring Creek. All ages are welcome and for a donation (the suggested amount is between $2 and $5) guests get a pumpkin and all the tools needed to create a Halloween work of art.

Echoes of the Forest will be taking place at the Protection and Little Bow Shelters at the Banff Recreation Grounds. Spooky Story Times take place at 3, 4 and 4:30 p.m. and are paired with Halloween treats and creepy crafts. Scary stories for adults takes place from 7-8 p.m. featuring Mandy Kujawa with atmospheric music provided by Garry Gonis in front of a fire with mulled wine.

Monday, Oct. 29

Spoirée ciné Halloween will be showing a screening of the movie Igor at artsPlace. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the film begins at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free with a donation and Halloween drinks will be provided. Surprise bags are also available for $2.

Tuesday, Oct. 28

Learn about the haunted history of the Fairmont Banff Springs from Oct. 28-31. Tours take place at 5 and 8 p.m. Those interested in tickets can reach out to Fairmont Banff Springs. Exploring the awesome incredible history of "the castle."

Wednesday, Oct. 30

Blake Canmore will be showing the cult classic movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show at 9:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to wear their most outrageous costumes, and prizes will be awarded to the best dressed. Contact blakecanmore.com to reserve a seat for the show.

Thursday, Oct. 31

The second annual Halloween on the Hill party will be taking place at the Silvertip Resort from 9:30 p.m.-2 a.m. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door for the 18+ event. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume and the best couple, or group costume.

The Local Wild Life Halloween Bash will be taking place at the Rose and Crown from 10 p.m.-2 a.m. There is no cover for this event.

The Banff Firefighters Association in partnership with the Town of Banff will be hosting a family-friendly Halloween Bonfire at the Banff Recreation Grounds  taking place from 7-9 p.m. The event is free to attend and includes free hot dogs, hot chocolate and a pyrotechnics show. Guests are encouraged to wear their spookiest costumes to celebrate Halloween.

The Halloween Howler at the Sasquatch begins at 9 p.m. at the Dancing Sasquatch in Banff. The party will have free entry all night and prizes for the best costume.

Halloween at Wild Bill's Legendary Saloon in Banff begins at 10 p.m. The night features no cover, live DJs and prizes for the best costume.

Opening their doors at 11 p.m. Nourish Halloween Party at Nourish Bistro in Banff will be casting a spell on guests. Tickets are $10 at the door.
