BOW VALLEY – Expect to hear more from Miranda Rosin over the next few months after she won the United Conservative Party’s local nomination contest for Banff-Kananaskis on Oct. 27.

The local Canmore resident beat Scott Wagner and Micheal Zubkow to secure her victory and will now represent UCP in next spring’s provincial election.

“I am incredibly humbled and honoured to wake up today as your official United Conservative Party candidate for Banff-Kananaskis,” wrote Rosin in a press release. “Although we will take a couple much-needed days to savour this victory and try to recoup my lost voice, I and my team will then immediately get back to work and focus on the task at hand – bringing our positive, conservative vision to each and every resident of Banff-Kananaskis.”

She took the opportunity to thank all UCP members who voted over the weekend and thanked her supporters and volunteers for helping her over the past eight months.

“This win has truly been a team effort, and none of it would have been possible without all of you welcoming me into your lives. I look forward to continuing to engage with voters across our entire 16,000-square-km riding as we work together to turn Banff-Kananaskis back blue.”

In the run-up to the nomination contest, Rosin said she knocked on approximately 30,000 doors throughout the riding and signed up more than 1,000 UCP members.

At her results party in Bragg Creek, she said she learned a lot while campaigning over the past eight months.

“If I have learned anything throughout this journey, it is that we have the most fantastic people living in our riding. Fantastic people that deserve the best representation possible for the next four years.”

She also thanked her fellow contestants Wagner and Zubkow for their contributions to advancing the UCP’s political aspirations.

UCP leader Jason Kenney also congratulated Rosin in a press release.

“Today more than 675 United Conservative members in Banff-Kananaskis voted to choose their candidate for the next election from amongst three great contestants,” wrote Kenney.

“Miranda joins a new generation of conservative leaders stepping up to the plate to represent communities across our province. She is a talented young woman with experience in both the political and business communities – experience that will serve us well as we work to provide Albertans with a common-sense alternative to the NDP. I am pleased to welcome Miranda to the United Conservative team.”
