GOLDEN, B.C. – The Trans-Canada Highway remains shut down in both directions, 14 hours after rocks covered the road 15 km east of Golden, B.C.

Officials are encouraging motorists to find an alternative route after an update from Drive BC at 8:58 a.m. on Wednesday (Dec. 11) stated the highway remains closed with no detours available.
According to the Drive BC website, the highway is closed between Golden Donald Upper Road and West Boundary of Yoho National Park for 18.8 km – four kilometres east of Golden to West Boundary of Yoho National Park.
Officials said an assessment is in progress.
They are estimating the re-opening time of the highway around 9:30 a.m.
