CANMORE – Cats and birds don’t mix.
The Canmore Eagles and Lloydminster Bobcats are set to face off in a best-of-seven series in the first round of the Alberta Junior Hockey League playoffs starting Friday (March 15) in Lloydminster.
Game 2 on Saturday (March 16) is also in Lloydminster before the series shifts to the Nest for Game 3 on Tuesday (March 19) and Game 4 on Wednesday (March 20). Puck drop is at 7 p.m. for both home games at the Canmore Recreation Centre.
If necessary, Game 5 and Game 7 are in Lloydminster on March 22 and March 26, respectively. Game 6 would be in Canmore on March 24 at 5 p.m.

The No. 2 seed Bobcats had the most high-powered offence in the AJHL this season, scoring 211 goals and averaging 3.7 goals per game.
Another top statistic for the Bobcats is for having the most penalty minutes. However, the Eagles rank second in that category.
In special teams, the Bobcats finished in the top three in penalty kill and power play percentages. On the opposite end, the Eagles ranked seventh in both.
In net, the Bobcats’ No. 1 goalie Jack Solomon had a record of 22-16-0-0 (5 shutouts), with a .912 save percentage and 3.05 goals against average.
Matthew Malin is going to be between the pipes for the Eagles and he went 18-16-2-0 (2 SO), with a .907 save percentage and 2.89 GAA.
The Eagles swept the Fort McMurray Oil Barons in a best-of-five play-in series to earn a spot in the playoffs.
During that series, Malin went 3-0, with one shutout, and a .958 save percentage.
