Satisfy your Breakfast Craving

Banff’s Crave Mountain Grill is a great place to start your Bow Valley day

One of the great things about hotel restaurants is that there’s always something for everyone on the menu. Another bonus is the fact the chefs have often worked all across the globe, bringing a vast knowledge of ingredients, techniques and dishes to their menus. Such is the case with Executive Chef Santosh Sahoo at Banff Park Lodge.

We were excited to try Sahoo’s breakfast at Crave Mountain Grill on the second floor and were not disappointed. If you want to start your day with variety and a full belly, enjoy the breakfast buffet with all of the classics from bennies to bacon, pancakes, toast, cereal and more. Served 7-11 a.m. on weekday and 7 a.m. - 12 p.m. on weekends, the buffet is just $24.95 for adults and $12.50 for kids, making it one of Banff’s best deals for breakfast.

We opted to eat from the menu, and began with the vegetarian Hass Avocado Bagel. Creamier and more flavourful than a typical avocado, the Hass finds a perfect home on a dense, chewy bagel giving this take on avocado toast a bit more gravitas. Two free-range eggs, arugula and a sun-dried tomato aioli round out the bagel, which is garnished with gorgeous edible flowers. This really beautiful dish is accompanied by uber-delicious, crispy smashed potatoes, which would be worth a visit to Crave in and of themselves.

We love ourselves a breakfast sando and the Sunrise Bacon and Egg panini was a winner. Served on a delightfully crispy garlic-Parmesan sourdough, the sandwich features two free-range eggs, applewood smoked bacon, baby spinach, tomato, chipotle mayo and Monteray Jack cheese. Also served with those amazing potatoes, this sandwich is a deeply flavourful dish that will keep you going on your mountain adventures. Like all of the dishes at Crave, all of the ingredients are fresh and as local as possible.

In the spirit of finding something delicious for all eaters, ask your server for substitution options for vegan, vegetarian and gluten-sensitive eaters.

Not just for breakfast, Crave Mountain Grill is also a great place to bring the family for dinner, with lots of seating and a friendly mountain chalet vibe. Watch for special brunches and festive dinners throughout the year including Brunch with Santa Dec 17, 2023 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
