Daniella Rubeling, left, Tangle McClaron, Heather Dempsey and Asami Yamauchi participate in a introduction to Indigenous basket making class at the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies on Wednesday (Jan. 22). The class was led by teacher Lillian Rose of the Ktunaxa Nation who used hands on experience to help students create cedar baskets. The event marked the kick-off for new cultural programming coming to the museum that aims to build bridges with Indigenous artists, filmmakers, speakers and community members as a way to celebrate the traditional Bow Valley cultural trade routes. The event was followed by a talk from Stoney Nakoda Nation member and cultural advisor and travel historian Buddy Wesley. CHELSEA KEMP RMO PHOTO
