Trailer Park Boy's Randy bringing his cheeseburger gut to Banff

“There better be some cheeseburgers."

BANFF – Hey Randy, why don’t you go on and eat a cheeseburger, you basketball-eating walrus.

Fans of Trailer Park Boys looking for some fully-loaded cheeseburgers, stiff drinks and greasy fun can look no further as Randy Bobandy will be dishing out patties and laughs at the upcoming Randy's Cheeseburger Picnic Live in Banff.

On Monday (Oct. 16), actor Patrick Roach, known as Randy, from the mega-hit Canadian TV series will be giving an audience a taste of his stand-up comedy, games and, hopefully, some cheeseburgers, at the Blanford Recreation Centre, err, Melissa’s MisSteak.

“There better be some cheeseburgers,” Roach said to the Outlook.

“You can come over and have a good time and leave some of life's woes behind you and just let loose for an evening.”

The iconic character, known for never wearing a shirt, is especially looking forward to munching down some classic Alberta beef, which he described as “the best friggin’ cheeseburger beef ever.”

The Cheeseburger Picnic stems from the TV show where Randy, who’s often drunk and eating greasy burgers, throws together a picnic for the residents of Sunnyvale Trailer Park.

Roach and John Dunsworth, a.k.a. Mr. Lahey, Randy's mentor, lover, and crime-fighting partner on the show, used to tour North America together before Dunsworth’s passing in 2017, which caused a stint in tour.

“Doing the shows with him was some of the most fun ever, I can tell you that, and I miss it and I miss him,” said Roach. “I think he'd be proud of ‘Randingo’ for continuing on because it's a lot scarier when you're there by yourself.”

After Dunsworth’s passing, Roach didn’t know if the tours would continue until an agent approached him and said fans still want to see Randy, thus sparking up the grill for the Cheeseburger Picnic.

Roach is no stranger to the Alberta mountains as he has performed in Banff before and taken scenic drives on the Icefields Parkway in the past.

It was on the Parkway where Roach and Dunsworth aided travellers with a ride to the mountain resort town after their psychedelic painted van got stuck in the snow on the side of the highway.

“It's been a while since I've been there, but I’ve always had a good time. I mean, it's such a beautiful, beautiful part of our country,” said Roach.

“It's pretty amazing that there's still folks that are big Trailer Park fans and fans of Randingo and just everything in the Park. So, I'm flattered. And still have a lot of fun with it.”

The tour kicks off Oct. 12 in Edmonton and takes Roach to stops in Alberta, B.C., Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Manitoba until Dec. 7.

The show is 18+ and tickets are available on www.eventbrite.ca.
