We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Samantha Zofia Ewan of Calgary, AB, on Friday, February 10, 2023 at the age of 38 years.

She will be remembered as a vibrant, passionate, and extravagant spirit, who loved her family and friends deeply, especially her son Theodore.

Samantha lived most of her life in Calgary and then moved to Canmore as she loved spending time in the mountains.

She was an alumnus of Strathcona-Tweedsmuir, Western Canada High School, Mount Royal College, and the University of Calgary where she took international business and started the international relations club. She later completed her Chartered Professional Accountant designation.Samantha enjoyed travelling the world and had taken trips to Malaysia, India, Mexico, Greece, Portugal, and England where she spent time with some of her closest friends and relatives. She especially loved her childhood trips to San Clemente, California and continued them into adulthood. Samantha loved the water and wave jumping in her childhood, which grew into a passion for swimming, paddle boarding, surfing, and scuba diving as she got older.

By far her greatest accomplishment and biggest joy was raising her son Theo. He was central to everything she did. They enjoyed many adventures, including learning to skate, ski and bike ride, archeological digs for dinosaur bones, visiting Auntie’s farm and Uncle on the ranch, kayaking, and most of all camping on Kootenay lake. Samantha taught Theo how to garden and an appreciation for nature.

Her big smile and long hugs will forever be remembered by those who loved her.

Samantha is survived by her son Theodore David Ewan-McGorrian, his father Matthew, her loving parents, Andrew and Judith Ewan; siblings, Anna, Rachael, and Alexander, and their spouses, Tayller and Alexandra; her niece and nephews, Quinn, Parker, and Archie; her adopted aunties, especially her Auntie Barbara, who was always there for her, and her loving aunts and uncles, in the UK, Canada, and New Zealand, Theodore’s family in Hamilton and many, many friends all around the world that she kept in regular contact with.

Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
