Peter Karl Grischkat
November 10, 1954 – August 18, 2023
It brings sadness to our hearts to announce the sudden passing of Peter (Gronk), husband, father, son, brother, cousin, uncle and friend.
He is survived by Lynda his wife of 39 years, son Josh (Steph), 2nd mother Elfie and his brother Eric as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Peter was predeceased by his father George, mother Katherine and both paternal and maternal grandparents.
Peter was born in Montreal and grew up in Rosemere, Quebec where he had close friends who he held close to his heart throughout his lifetime. Venturing west in the mid 70’s with some of those friends they joined others who had already made the trek west. When Peter first arrived in the west with his lifelong friends he brought with him his childhood nickname “Gronk” and that name stayed with him his entire life. By 1977 he landed in Canmore, Alberta and by 1981 he had purchased a set of Ludwig drums and joined other musicians playing in local venues with the occasional road trip.
1981 also brought a new kind of beat to Peter’s heart as he and Lynda Scholfield’s hearts began to beat together as one and in 1986 they married and later moved to Exshaw, Alberta and started a family with the arrival of their son Josh.
For the next 32 years, remaining in the same house in Exshaw, Peter proudly dedicated his life to his family, his home and to his career as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He was a calm, kind and gentle man with a constant smile and he built many friendships along the way. He was a fantastic, loving and very proud father for his son Josh with whom he had a shared interest in drumming and pc gaming and was also a loving soul mate to his wife Lynda.
Please join the family in a Celebration of Life for Peter on Sunday, September 3, 2023 beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Heart Mountain Branch #179 in Exshaw. Bring your smiles.
