Roger “Lowel” Jenkins

 

Born August 21, 1939 in Edmonton, Alberta. Passed at home with family by his side on April 5, 2020 in Parksville, B.C.

Lowel is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Dianne (nee Binder).

Also, his 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Cathy Deane (Ken), Andrea and Tristan of Canmore, David (Lupita) Bethel, Eliab, Kyle, Dominique of Comox, Ken (Anastasia), Jennifer, and Cassandra of Kelowna. Lynne, Taylor, Duncan, Laura and Colby of Vancouver Island.

Lowel joined the Canadian Navy at age 17 but found his true calling with the city of Edmonton Fire Department in 1963. He enjoyed his many roles during his 28-year career, retiring as the Fire Chief in 1992.

Lowel and Dianne moved to Canmore to enjoy the beautiful mountains, and eventually retired to Parksville on Vancouver Island in 2006.

Special thanks to Dr. John Michalyshyn and Dr. Maccari for the wonderful care throughout the years. Also, a special thanks to Dr. Rudston-Brown, Dr. Schneidereit and Dr. Alscher for your excellent surgical care and expertise.

A celebration of life will be held August 21st in Parksville. Details will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army in Lowel’s name.
