This content is brought to you by: Red Deer College Red Deer College (RDC) continues to grow its programming and learning spaces to provide the best educational experiences for its students as it embarks on a journey over the next three to five years to become a comprehensive regional teaching university. Transitioning to a university means offering the same range of credentials RDC does now, such as applied and collaborative degrees, skilled trades, certificates and diplomas, plus adding its own degrees. Red Deer College offers a current mix of more than 100 programs. In 2018 - 19, RDC will welcome students into seven new programs. These programs will train learners in a variety of subjects, providing more students with opportunities to learn and grow in their lives and careers. Three new facilities opening on RDC’s main campus this year will add to already robust learning spaces and applied research opportunities for students. The Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre/Centre des Jeux du Canada Gary W. Harris will serve students, and house athletic, recreational and community activities, while promoting healthy lifestyles. The Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre will also be the home of the championship-winning Kings and Queens. An Alternative Energy Lab will assist industry and research, while also providing RDC students with the skills necessary to install, operate and maintain alternative energy systems. A new Residence will increase on-campus housing, where students can build lasting friendships as they enjoy ‘down time’ after a full day of studying. These new facilities will integrate energy efficient technologies, helping to reduce RDC’s carbon footprint. All this growth occurs as RDC partners to welcome the nation when Red Deer hosts the 2019 Canada Winter Games. Red Deer College will play a pivotal role as the games operations hub and will host five sporting events in the new Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre. Close to 3,600 athletes will stay in Red Deer College’s Residences. www.rdc.ab.ca
