Cochrane RCMP vehicle stop leads to arrest of three people

Three people have been charged with more than 30 offences and are set to appear in Cochrane Provincial Court in February.

STONEY NAKODA – Three people have been arrested and numerous charges have been laid after an RCMP vehicle stop.

Stoney Nakoda RCMP initiated the traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle in the early morning of Thursday (Jan. 28) in the Stoney Nakoda First Nation. The vehicle fled and was located a short time later.

Three occupants of the vehicle, Aldina Snow (35), Gertrude Wesley (44) and Jacob Wesley (20), were arrested. An RCMP press release stated during the investigation, several drugs, weapons and identification documents were seized.

The trio has been charged with more than 30 offences including: six counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000; two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; four counts of possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle; four counts of identity fraud; possession of break-in instruments; flight from the police and five counts of possession of controlled substances. RCMP said these substances are believed to be methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, and psilocybin.

Snow and Gertrude Wesley have also been charged with failing to comply with conditions of release orders.

The three suspects were held for a judicial interim release hearing. Snow and Gertrude Wesley were remanded to appear in Cochrane Provincial Court on Feb. 2. Jacob Wesley was released with the condition to appear in Cochrane Provincial Court on Feb. 16.
