STONEY NAKODA – Marci Beaver, a mother living in Morley, almost lost her life in May of 2018.

Two women driving a stolen Audi Q7 filled up at Ghost Station, then hurriedly drove away onto the highway without paying attention. Beaver was in an oncoming sedan and before she could hit the brakes, she T-boned the Audi.

The near-death experience shook Beaver and her children.

Last Christmas the family decided to sponsor a Christmas Lights contest in Morley. Previously, the family has sponsored a family in need every Christmas, but now they've gone the extra mile to brighten the season.

In 2018, the family raised enough money to have a grand prize of $750 for the best decorated house, $250 for second place and $100 for third place. Included in those prizes was a romance package and stay and play from Stoney Nakoda Resort and a $100 Walmart gift card.

Beaver received positive feedback and requests from the community to hold the contest again.

She's now asking for donations from community members to match or exceed their prizing efforts from 2018.

Any local businesses interested in supporting their efforts can contact Beaver at 587-349-7035 or by email at: [email protected]. She would like to receive responses before Sunday (Dec. 15).
