Bike etiquette

As a part-time resident of Canmore, I am perplexed about bicycle etiquette here.

I cannot tell you how many times I have been startled or almost run over by a cyclist while walking on sidewalks and trails around town.

This is the only place I have ever been where cyclists simply do not give any verbal warning of their approach from behind. A simple “behind you” or “on your left” would do wonders to avoid accidents, near accidents or even the occasional heart attack.

The only person who ever let me know he was coming up from behind was a jogger. Come on cyclists, if a jogger can do it, so can you. Give us pedestrians some warning.
